Jim Starlin on Fueled By Death Cast

It’s no secret that Ominous Press loves our friends over at Death Wish Coffee. They’ve kept us grinding it out since their inception in 2012, and their line of highly-caffeinated coffee inspired the creation of Death Wish Coffee Presents: Odinforce written by Ominous Press Editor-In-Chief and Lead Writer Ron Marz, with art by the legendary Rick Leonardi, and color by Neeraj Menon. (Ron, Rick, and Neeraj have another Ominous project coming soon, but I might wind up dead if I told you more.)

Death Wish obviously has a love of comics. They attend comic cons, collaborate with artists, and interview creators on their star-studded podcast Fueled By Death Cast. In the most recent episode, the Death Wish family proudly chats with none other than Jim Starlin, where they chat about breaking into comics, the true origins of Thanos, and the Jim Starlin Collection Kickstarter

Without further ado, it’s time to reveal the next artist Jim Starlin Legacy Project! Renowned artist and sculptor Paul Harding makes no secret of his love for the Clown Prince of Crime, having drawn and sculpted the Joker to great acclaim. Paul has penciled and inked this truly terrifying vision of the Joker as he appeared in the landmark “Death in the Family” storyline, which was of course written by Jim Starlin. Paul’s bloody terrific piece measures a landscape 17 inches by 11 inches, and is available now for a pledge of $750.

Six for Starlin
over 6 years ago – Wed, Jun 27, 2018 at 03:35:17 PM

We started the Jim Starlin Legacy Project to empower creators to revisit Jim’s legacy via the characters and creations that helped mold them as fans and professionals. The artwork that we’ve received has been nothing short of astounding! To date, we’ve offered up six original pieces of art for the Jim Starlin Legacy Project.

To recap, the Bart Sears Dreadstar and the Andy Smith Thanos have already sold, but there are still amazing pieces left! For respective pledges of $750, you can be the proud owner of OMAC by Phil Hester; Captain Marvel and Thanos by Graham Nolan; Thanos vs. Mongul by Darryl Banks; or Adam Warlock by Jeff Johnson. Each inked piece measures a full 11 inches by 17 inches. Your pledge also includes digital and physical copies of Black Book: The Art of Jim Starlin and Jim’s illustrated novella Mindgames: A Hardcore Station Story.

The Eve of Adam
over 6 years ago – Wed, Jun 27, 2018 at 08:50:04 AM

Our latest addition to the Jim Starlin Legacy Project is a real cosmic dream by Jeff Johnson.

Jeff’s extensive credits include Marvel’s Wonder Man, DC’s Green Lantern with Ominous Press Editor-In-Chief and Lead Writer Ron Marz, as well as stunning variant cover for Demi-God #1 from Ominous Press, among others, has illustrated one of Jim Starlin’s signature characters, Adam Warlock, in this gorgeous inked piece. Jim took the reins on Adam Warlock in 1975 in Strange Tales #178, and his work forever changed not only the character, but the landscape of the Marvel’s Cosmic Universe. Jeff’s beautiful original measures 11 inches by 17 inches, and can be yours for a pledge of $750 or more.

With a little over two weeks left in this campaign, we’ve been blown away by your support! We’re more than 160% funded already, and we’re confident we can push to at least 200% with your help! If you haven’t done so already, please consider taking a moment to share our campaign. We’ve got some HUGE stretch goals lined up!

Did you know that our sister company Sleeping Giant Collectibles is producing a docu-series about comic book creators? The Sleeping Giant SAGA Series will focus on creators who have shaped our imaginations, inspired us to tell stories, and created our fandoms. The first episode of the SAGA Series will be focused on none other than Jim Starlin. While we’re still in production, we couldn’t be happier to share this trailer with you. This project is shaping up to be something special. Take a look!
